Day 10: Create Accessible PDFs from Word Documents

PDFs can get a bad rap when it comes to being accessible. Today we will share how to create an accessible PDF from a Word document you already have.

Simply follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Choose a Word document.
  3. Open the “Microsoft Accessibility Checker.”
  4. Identify and resolve all accessibility issues.
  5. You are ready to save it as an accessible PDF.
  6. On the “File” tab, select “Save As.”
  7. Select “PDF.”
  8. Select the check box for “Best for electronic distribution and accessibility.”
  9. Select “Save.”
